Adults are humans or animals that have reached their full growth and development. Adult is a term applied to human beings to refer to moral and social concepts. As opposed to a "non-adult" or "minor", a legal adult is a person who has attained the age of majority. They are regarded as an independent, self-sufficient person and dependable. A legal adult can be referred to as a major. The age of 18 is the legal adult age, but this definition can differ by country, legal rights or mental development.

When a human reaches full physical and intellectual maturity, this is known as adulthood. Adulthood is commonly considered to begin at age 20 or 21 years. The age of old is 60 years later than middle years. There are three primary levels of adulthood: the early years of the age of adulthood (18 up to the mid-30s), middle adulthood (mid-30s to mid-60s) as well as the final stage of adulthood (mid-60s up to the point of end of life). As we enter the initial stage of adulthood (between 20 and 40) then our bodies are at their peak of maturity even though the weight and height of our bodies might increase a bit. When we are young our physical capabilities are at their peak such as muscular strength, reaction time, sensory abilities, and heart function.
